We were here for the Tour this past summer, but it seemed like all the scandals dampened down a lot of the excitement. I didn’t go down to the Champs Elysees to see the finish, although I watched it on TV I couldn’t face all those crowds… Maybe I’ll be better prepared next year.

Speaking of bike shorts, I just read a blog post about why it’s important for guys to pay attention to the color of the shorts they wear: http://cucinatestarossa.blogs.com/weblog/2005/09/why_bike_shorts.html (Just to warn you, the photos are slightly shocking.)

And yes, wearing those shorts is a bit of a cycling tax to pay, but I think most riders would agree the alternatives are worse (at least for guys).

I wonder if it’s the lack of distraction in a swimming pool that allows your mind to make those new connections. For myself, I think I need a low-level of distraction–which taking a walk in a park provides–in order to really let my mind wander and to get inspired. And of course, for people who think better out loud, it’s easier to have a conversation when walking.
